About

I am the Travelling Conductor – a professional conductor working across Europe and beyond. I travel to rehearsals, concerts and opera productions year-round — sometimes for a week, sometimes for a month, sometimes just for two days.

This blog is about what I've learned along the way. Not about conducting itself — there are better places for that — but about everything around it: how to travel well with formal concert attire, how to stay productive between cities, which tools and systems make a nomadic life in classical music not just bearable but genuinely enjoyable.

I write anonymously. Not out of secrecy, but because this isn't about me — it's about the ideas, the systems, and the occasional hard-won lesson from one too many airports. If what I share is useful, it doesn't matter whether you know my name.

What I can tell you: I've conducted opera and symphonic repertoire in concert halls and opera houses across multiple continents. I travel carry-on only whenever possible. I prepare scores on an iPad and perform from paper. I believe that less luggage means more freedom, and that a well-chosen garment bag can change your life.

The feature images on this site start with my own photographs but are often heavily reworked using AI — sometimes the subject is real and the scene around it is generated, sometimes the other way around. Think of them as illustrations, not documentation. The writing, however, is entirely human — every article, recommendation, and opinion comes from me, not from a machine.

If you find a product recommendation on this site, it's because I use it — not because someone paid me to mention it. Some links are affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. I never recommend anything I wouldn't pack in my own bag.
